my story.

My life as an artist began at a young age, but my journey into quilting didn't start until I became a mom. Odd time to get into quilting, I know. Early motherhood is a stage of life where you begin to lose a lot of your time and even yourself, but quilting has become a way for me to reconnect with myself and invest in the lives of my most cherished people.
One of my majors in undergraduate school was art with a concentration in printmaking. I always dreamed of diving into the world of fabric and quilting, but back then I had just borrowed my first ever sewing machine and had zero clue on how to even start. The fear of trying and being lost in the process deterred me for years. The call to quilt continued in my graduate life while studying to become an art therapist. I worked with clients whose lives were touched by the fiber arts, and my passion grew evermore.

Sewing for me started with learning how to thread a machine, then seeing all of the stitches my little machine could make. I would sew borders onto my prints and eventually got into dyeing fabrics and making small handheld pieces. After lots of hand mending and embroidery, I took a story cloth class in my graduate program that emphasized the process of slow-stitching and delved into the rich history of fiber arts in culture, specific communities, and simple every day life.

Fast forward to being six months postpartum with my first child. I decided I was done being scared to try and made my first quilted table runner. I was hooked and still am. Now my dreams are limitless and still kicking, even as my family grows and life seems to become more chaotic. Welcome to my place of documenting this wonderful and crazy life, and finding the space and inspiration to create in the in-between. I hope you can find something here that speaks to you as much as it means to me.
