Solly's quilt was definitely a new experience for me as it was my first quilt made for a boy! This changed my whole process on what pattern, color, and aesthetic it should be, as I was used to creating quite girly quilts for Rose. I had stumbled across this gorgeous plaid linen collection from Fableism and I knew it was exactly what I wanted for Solly. The plaid prints and the feel of the linen took me back to the memories of my grandfather and the innumerable amount of plaid button down shirts he would wear daily. We lost my grandfather in February of 2022, but the impression of his hugs in those plaid button downs are stitched into the rich history of what Solly's quilt will come to be. I created my own patchwork pattern, which references the vintage quilts of the generations before me and hopefully will remain a classic staple in Solly's future with his own family.
