When I started making quilts, I also made a lofty goal of creating quilts for each of my children's birthdays until 18. As I've come to realize that gifting the quilts on their actual birthdays is completely out of the question, I've settled to having them picking out their patterns and I'll do my best to make it within the year... or next! This quilt is special because of the backing, with the dandelion seeds scattering away from their stem. Little two-year-old Rose loved to be outside and when she discovered dandelions, her outdoor adventures were centered around picking them up and blowing them away. I'll never forget her sweet, curious face light up while watching the seeds fly into the air or her determination to learn how to blow the air out of her mouth. Other elements of the quilt include flowers, small suns, and a general warmth that represents that special time together.
